EMIS expand its Brazilian company database in a big way

We are pleased to announce that EMIS (Emerging Markets Information Service) has released the Brazilian company database. With this release they are going to increase the number of company profiles from 38,000 to 331,000.

The Brazilian market is the largest in Latin America but is quite challenging when acquiring company data as the lack of any central governmental regulatory body collecting and distributing the company data makes the collection of reliable corporate information difficult.

There are two new special solutions being introduced besides the increase of the coverage.

Apart from the new company profiles, they also acquired verified telephone numbers from Serasa in order to make the data more reliable and useful for EMIS users.

A specialty of the Brazilian market is that only a limited number of companies are obliged to report financials to the public in the local official gazettes. In order to tackle this problem, they have started a co-operation with Klooks, who have developed a model to estimate the size of the companies based on industrial and corporate information. The interface has been upgraded to reflect this.
