| The United Nations Climate Change Conference in December 2015 will be a key source of new actions and commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Europe has almost single-handedly spearheaded and borne witness to the fight against climate change by assuming the costs. But given the global scope of the problem, the involvement of countries such as the United States and China, Russia and other emerging countries is necessary. There must be a global commitment.

| The three-pronged dilemma of safety, competitiveness and the environment can be organized in many different ways using different energy models. Europe must assume a clear strategic position in light of these priorities, given that the current situation of energy dependence, supply costs and lack of consensus on sensitive matters such as defense, diplomatic relations and energy has placed the continent in a highly delicate situation.

The customer is becoming a new player who is demanding greater participation and taking on different roles as generator and consumer. All this has produced a new paradigm, given that the possibilities offered by technology to place the client at the center of the utilities system have turned the client into a new system player.

The unconventional revolution has continued its course and seems to have consolidated its position in the United States and Canada in a situation of guaranteed, competitive supply. The transfer of this energy revolution to other regions will have to be confirmed in coming years. This has led to a disparity between oil and gas prices. However, the scope of the unconventional revolution may have to be questioned or moderated to some extent, given the collapse of Brent oil prices by more than 50 percent over the last 6 months and the possibility that the OPEC countries may allow these moderate prices to drop even further or stay at that level for some years to come.
